Let It Be


The Beatles version was not the first release of this song, it was the cover. The Aretha Franklin original was in the American charts in December 1969, whereas the Beatles version did not appear until 1970!

This has been corrected in the meantime.


The Aretha Franlin version of 'Let It Be' was first released on her album 'This Girl's in Love With You' (release date January 15, 1970), which did not chart until the middle of February of that year. 'Let it be' was released as the B-side of the single 'Don't Play That Song' at the end of July 1970.
