A musical with music and lyrics by Cyndi Lauper and a book by Harvey Fierstein. It is based on the 2005 British film of the same name. The musical tells the story of Charlie Price, who inherits a shoe factory from his father. Charlie forms an unlikely partnership with cabaret performer and drag queen Lola to produce a line of high-heeled boots and save the business. In the process, Charlie and Lola discover that they are not so different after all.
The show first previewed at the Bank of America Theatre in Chicago, Illinois, and then opened at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre on Broadway on April 4, 2013. The Original Broadway Cast Recording was recorded during the Broadway previews.
