Just ran across this one; if it duplicates something on the big lists submitted, my apologies. I find that on the original UK album, The Beatles are all wearing blue macs, but the overall design is different. BTW, those are supposed to be 4 Yoko Onos on the Tater Totz album.

A couple by punkers Schlong. Both should be expanded for details. "Punk Side Story" is a great concept album BTW (and they didn't get sued):

A couple of releases added to the database this week:

London Calling

Damaged Goods

Boy Division's sleeve is based on The Clash's but they might not have released that The Clash's was itself based on an earlier one by Elvis Presley. However, I've not been able to identify the Elvis release. Maybe Hounddogman will recognise it and let us know?

Thanks Quentin,

Looks like you're right. I followed a link from that album page to the page for the London Calling single, which actually has a section on the sleeve artwork, giving the name of the artist and some further details:

"Continuing the theme of the Elvis Presley-inspired London Calling LP cover, the single sleeve (front and back) is based on old RCA Victor (Elvis' label) 78 rpm sleeves. The cover artwork was designed by Ray Lowry and is identical to the RCA sleeve with the exception of changing the LP covers that the young teenage cover models are listening to. From left to right they are, The Beatles' debut Please Please Me, Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols, The Rolling Stones debut, The Clash debut, Bob Dylan's Highway 61 Revisited and finally the Elvis Presley debut LP."

So it seems that it's just covers the RCA Victor corporate sleeve rather than an Elvis-specific release.

Cheers,

Dave.
