The undernoted queries pertain to Long John Baldry, the famous R&B exponent who passed away this year in July.

(i) It is understood that Baldry reached the top UK position

with his 1967 hit song 'Let the heartaches begin'.  What

was the corresponding chart position in the United

     States?

(ii) Who wrote the words and music for the songtitle

'Mexico' as recorded by Baldry? Was the song

associated  with any special event? What was the

song's chart position in the U.S. and U.K.?

(iii)  Did Jackie Trent and Tony Hatch compose any

songtitle(s) recorded by Baldry apart from 'We're

        Together'?

(iv)  Who wrote the words and music for 'Annabella(who

flies to me when she's lonely'as recorded by Baldry?

What US and/or UK chart position did this songtitle achieve?

Hi K,

I don't know all the answers but will try to help you as much as possible.

1. The highest chartposition for "Let the heartaches begin" in the US Bilboard charts was N° 88.

2. Tony Macaulay and John McLeod. Not connected to any special event as far as I know. UK chart position : N° 15, never reached the Bilboard 100.

3. Yes, two as far as I know:

- Henry Hannah's 42nd street parking lot

- Wait for me

4. Don't know the answer to this one. I could find that the song was written by Giocatelli/Palomba/Ryan. It seems this is an old italian song written by Giocatelli and Palomba and translated into english by Ryan. Not sure though

May Anto knows the answer to this one?

  1. What was the position in the US and/or UK charts corresponding to the

    Hatch) as recorded by Baldry?

  1.   What US and/or UK chart position did the songtitle "When The Sun Comes

Shining Thru" (Words and Music by Michael D'Abo) as recorded by Baldry

     in the year 1968 achieve?

  1.   Did Baldry possess any other significant connection with Elton John other

than having been a fellow member of the band "Bluesology" in the 1960's?
