The Merri-Men was formed in 1960 by three members of Bill Haley and His Comets who had quit the group: Rudy Pompilli (sax), Franny Beecher (guitar) and Ralph Jones (drums). It was actually a revival of a group Pompilli and Jones ran before they joined the Comets in 1955. Pompilli and Beecher rejoined the Comets in 1961 after the group released one single, but Jones did not come back.
