The Austrian-German singer Jonny Hill (real name Peter Greif) is one of the most prolific C&W music coverers in the German-speaking region.

In 1977 he released a single Die Arbeit hört nie auf containing a Hank Williams cover on the A side and on the B side a song called Der Zug der heimwärts geht, a cover of a work by Bill Rice & Jerry Foster, a writing duo. which wrote for artists like Jerry Lee Lewis, Lynn Anderson and Charley Pride.

The title translates into The Train Returning Home or something like it, but this singer often writes lyrics with a story totally different from the original one and Peter Greif is the German lyricist of this cover according to GEMA.

Anyone an idea about the US original of this cover?

The GEMA work code traces back to "A Train That Never Runs", which was recorded by Bobby Bare.

The GEMA work code tric strikes again!

I should have paid better attention the first time you explained this to us!

Thanks, Michael, I will work on it tomorrow.
