- "How Sweet I Roam'd From Field to Field" was first published in the volume "Poetical Sketches" in 1783, which contains works written between 1769 and 1777. This was the first collection of Blake's work to be published, and initially only forty copies were printed. Some scholars believe "How Sweet I Roam'd from Field to Field" was written when Blake was 13: if so, this would make it the earliest of his works to survive.
