"Heidenröslein" or "Heideröslein" ("Rose on the Heath" or "Little Rose of the Field") is a poem by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe published in 1789.
It has been set to music by a number of composers, the most popular one being the version by Heinrich Werner, which has become a German folksong. On January 20, 1829, his version of the song was performed for the first time in a concert by the Braunschweiger Liedertafel, which he conducted. - Licensing
