Song first recorded by Sweet Papa "Tadpole" on July 29, 1930. Sweet Papa recorded six sides that day all accompanied by Tampa Red on guitar. All six performances credited "Williams" as the songwriter on the Vocalion singles. It is unknown if that's Sweet Papa's last name or if it's a pseudonym for Tampa Red. This song is registered as a work by Tampa Red, so without evidence to the contrary, SHS is following suit. The Sweet Papa sides were reissued decades later on Tampa Red compilations so they are often mistaken for Tampa Red songs.
