American songwriter from New York. Much of Wayne’s best-known work was written for the musical films of Elvis Presley including G.I. Blues, Fun in Acapulco, and Paradise, Hawaiian Style. In fact, almost every Elvis film contained one or more works written by Wayne and his partner Ben Weisman. Recordings from these productions often became commercially successful singles for Elvis, establishing Wayne as one of the top songwriters of the 1960s. Wayne's work has also been recorded by Sammy Davis Jr., Merle Haggard, Johnny Mathis, Dinah Washington, and the Isley Brothers, to name a few.
