Originally billed as The Sportsmen, they became known as the Sportsmen Quartet after WWII.
Appeared and/or sang in many movies in the 1940s.
Joined the Jack Benny Show (radio and television) in September 1946 and appeared intermittently through 1963. Performed voicework for Looney Tunes from 1938-1950.

Tenor - Bill Day
Second Tenor - Max Smith, replaced by Bob Stevens in 1949, replaced by Jay Mayer in 1951
Bass - Don Craig, quickly replaced by Thurl Ravenscroft, then Gurney Bell in 1949
Baritone - Art McCullogh, replaced by John Rarig, then Mart Sperzel in 1943, replaced by Jay Moffett in 1957

Note: Max Smith and Thurl Ravenscroft left in 1948 and formed The Mellomen
