A humorous stage musical by Richard O'Brien combining elements of B-movie science fiction and horror, telling the story of a newly engaged couple getting caught in a storm and calling at the home of a mad transvestite scientist unveiling his new creation, a muscle man named Rocky Horror.
The above date was the premiere of the stage production at the 63-seat Theatre Upstairs at the Royal Court in King's Road, Chelsea, London, UK, where it ran until July 20, 1973. The cast members listed below were the initial cast performing at the premiere. The production transferred to the 230-seat Chelsea Classic Cinema from August 14, 1973, to October 20, 1973, the 500-seat King's Road Theatre from November 3, 1973, to March 31, 1979, and finally to the 820-seat Comedy Theatre from April 6, 1979, to September 13, 1980. The production has been revived in the UK several times since. It has also toured and spawned an international franchise of productions and a 1975 movie.
