- A. o. also called "Das Moorsoldatenlied", "Wohin auch das Auge blicket", this was written and composed in 1933 by prisoners of the first German concentration camp ("Emsland" near Papenburg), where it was also performed on August 28 in front of some 1000 prisoners - and the guards. Obviously, no versions were released until after WW II. The history of the song is common knowledge in Germany and even being taught at school.
