- Humourist, critic and satirist, well known for the vicious and acerbic wit of the poems and book reviews that she published in "New Yorker Magazine" in the 1920s and 30s. She later worked as a screenwriter in Hollywood and received two Oscar nominations, one for the original version of "A Star Is Born". However, she was blacklisted by Hollywood in the 1950s because of her active support for left-wing causes.
