Paul Anka may not be the best example because I don't have anything to add. Also, let me repeat that all this may be just a personal failing on my part; I have no desire to cause trouble if I'm the "only one" confused here.
I suppose most specifically I don't understand how "forward comments" and "reverse comments" work. I have gotten them displayed backwards on some occasions (and apparently cannot edit that to correct it), and on some occasions I've been unsuccessful in displaying "comments" at all. This may be related to a lack of understanding about what "checkboxes" are and how they work. Where, for example, are these? And how and when do they get "checked?" At "Paul Anka," for example, I see boxes next to "Relation" and "Is family of." (I assume these are "checkboxes?") I checked both of them (just to see what would happen). I then got an error message saying "no relation selected." But of course there was a relation selected, since it shows "Nancy Anka" as Paul Anka's niece, and below that there is reported "is family" right next to the display of the "Relation name."
More generally , I'm not clear about just what a "relation" is, or a "family," or a "related relation" (what, for example, does this mean: "a member of alias alB.")
--Is a former spouse a "family relation?" (What if we don't know the actual dates of a marriage?) How about step-children, or step-nephews (etc.)? Live-in partners? Girlfriends?
--Why isn't Roy Head a former member of The Traits (He's dead, after all, as well as having split with them.) Likewise Brian Jones and The Rolling Stones (an example listed at the page)?
-- Is Sarah Dash "related to" Keith Richards just because she sang with an ad hoc group formed by Richards that has no independent existence? (If so, would that mean that any backup singer for any performance is "related to" that performer and all other musicians who participated in that performance?)
-- Is there any actual definition about what "relevant relations" are? If being a "bodyguard" is a "relevant relation" (as per the example given for Red West), why isn't Porter Wagoner "related to" Dolly Parton? Or Buck Owens and Roy Clark (and everyone else who ever appeared on "Hee Haw")?
I find it difficult to explain what I don't understand since the whole point is that I don't understand....
