Singer, bassist, guitarist and actor. Born in Arkansas, he moved to Los Angeles in 1960 to work as a session man. He soon became part of the so-called Wrecking Crew (an informal ensemble of session musicians from the Los Angeles area). In 1964-65 Campbell went on tour with The Beach Boys, as a temporary replacement for Brian Wilson. In his solo career, started in 1962, he has sold more than 45 million records and scored a string of pop and country hits in the 1960s and 1970s. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2005.
