- Comments
- Started initially as "Top Rank" in January 1959 by The Rank Organisation, the famed British film production company, with Dick Rowe and Tony Hatch in charge. An American branch was launched one year later. The UK branch mainly released licensed material from smaller American labels (i.e. Cameo Parkway, Scepter Records, SWAN) and light pop music. The blue "Top Rank" labels only lasted till October 1959, then changed to orange/white "International" labels (with some exceptions already in July) The label closed down in April 1962.
