Composer probably best known for his film scores including three Academy Award nominations He was also a jazz pianist and singer and the composer of concert music including orchestral works, choral pieces, and operas. Although he was knighted in 1998 and holds the honorific title of Commander of the Order of the British Empire, Bennett lived in New York City from 1979 until his death.
